We are pleased to share that the talk Post-Yugoslav Graffiti by Professor Mitja Velikonja is now available as part of the Yugoblok global community's digital archive. The recording is accessible to registered members of Yugoblok, a growing international network dedicated to appreciating and preserving the cultural, political, and aesthetic legacies of Yugoslavia.
In this lecture, Mitja Velikonja—MEMPOP member, currently serving as a Professor of Cultural Studies and Head of the Centre for Cultural and Religious Studies at the University of Ljubljana—discusses political graffiti in the former Yugoslavia as a source of cultural memory of socialism and the former country. As the founder of graffitology, Velikonja offers insight into graffiti as a political medium that reflects the endurance and transformation of post-socialist memory cultures.
Originally recorded as part of Yugoblok’s House of Culture series, the online event was held on May 7, 2025.
